I am sophomore Sport and Entertainment Management Major at the University of South Carolina. This is a picture of me, my dad, uncle, and cousin a the M&T Bank stadium is Baltimore City where the Baltimore Ravens play. This is one of my favorite stadiums and I have been to many games there.
I love sports because of
the competitive nature behind them. All sports have roots in competitiveness
and that makes it so much more exciting to watch. The players are out on the
field or court giving their best efforts, which is why it is so entertaining.
Sports fans love to follow one team and cheer for that one team exclusively. I
think this is a major reason why people enjoy sports so much because of their
own personally investment of time and money into one particular sports
team.
My favorite sport would have to be
football. I love how intense the games are and the loyalty that the fans have
for their team. I think that football is one of the best sports because of how
short the season is. This makes all of the games count because there is only a
small sample size of the regular season before the playoffs starts. I also like
how in the playoffs it is a win or go home mentality because of the importance
of each and every game. There are no second chances in the playoffs, and I think
that makes it that much more fun to watch. I am a diehard Ravens fan and have
been for a really long time. It is so fun to go to the games and watch my
favorite team compete on Sundays. Also, the older I get the more interest I have
in the operational side to football and the stuff that goes on behind the scenes
that is not seen on gameday. I love looking at all of the front office and
general manager actions that they take like drafting players, signing
contracts, and setting ticket prices for the games.
I chose to study sport management because
of how much I enjoy sports. I also realize how much goes on in the sports world
than just the games that are being played. There are a lot of moving pieces put
together that help make the games happen that the fans get to enjoy every week.
I see myself having a career in this industry because the front office actions
interest so much and I would love to pursue a career in that. I do not know anything
specific at this moment, but I just know that having a job related to sports
and business is something that I definitely want to do in my life.
